Amazing…

Mood : le tired

The You suck at photoshop series on Youtube is sooo good, it has everything, humour, sarcasm and some badass tutorials oh Photoshop tools. Even if you don’t learn anything new then at least you can be entertained by the videos’ storyline and character Donnie.

Some other amazing things to list:

  • Experimenting in photography, I really really love trying out random things, sometimes it’s so damn frustrating but sometimes you just get some awesome results in the end.
  • Doing stupid fun things in photography, there’s nothing like a silly even childish bit of fun for a shot or two, yeah emotional and intense are cool - but funny things keep you rolling
  • Photoshop - I bloody love photoshop, it’s such an amazing piece of software. Powerful, vast and wonderful. Of course the tool only performs as well as the user’s ability, but still, just the things it can create are sooo good. Again, the joy of ’shopping some stupid immature thing is enough to keep you smiling
  • Animation, now I’m not usually an animation freak, but there are some things I see that I can really appreciate the skill and ability involved in producing it. You can see why the creator would have put in hours and hours and hours, and then can sit back at the end with this fantastic sense of satisfaction at the result.

Why is there just SO much cool stuff like this around? It’s great, woo for times of the digital age!

In other news, I’m feeling quite tired and a bit oddly sick. And I don’t want to get up at death o’clock tomorrow morning. Mergh.

Remember the milk…and Coffee

Mood : busy and rocking
Curently Listening to : Nine inch nails - Piggy (live)

Okay, so I decided to increase my web app stuff, and decided to give ‘Remember the milk‘ a spin. It’s basically a kinda cool online app for to organising to do lists. Since I decided I wanted a GTD app, then decided against a desktop based app because I’m very ‘on the go’ minded, as I like everything online so I grab at it from anywhere, I eventually settled on this site.

Bob had already mentioned remember the milk to me a while back, though I’d already read about it on lifehacker way way before that but never felt the need for it. Now I’m trying to be proactive I think tis a good idea yar. Plus the cool thing of being able to integrate it into my gcal makes it a very wise choice indeed. Essentially I can task manage from my gcal without needing to go into the RTM site. Sweett.

In other news, I’ve started to drink more coffee, though I’ve determined I’m a latte drinker, not a coffee drinker since I had a coffee for lunch and it tasted like shit, then I had another latte from the italian and it was bloody gorgeous. I think I should totally check out this latte scene, I mean I’m still mad on tea don’t get me wrong. I had a bloody awesome brew after my tests yesterday - brew from tea leaves and not bags always seem to taste better.

I’m still in a financial crisis, so the best thing I can do now is try and reduce the damage as much as I can. Fortunately I’m on my new hours from next week, so this means I can cut out costs on food, therefore my main costs will be on petrol. Unless I get a full time job - then the damage limitation will be better. I need to push to make money though, must must must, the key is in the money.

Hehe had a slight banter earlier on twitter about needing to win the lottery, and Bob suggested we used the numbers in Lost to see if we’d win it, though I pointed out I was already unlucky enough as it is!

Right, am busy-busy, but first…photos…

Mwhaha! I think I’m finally free of the curse of the pox, and most importantly I got through the weekend of knowing I should have been in a field…(Though I was talking to Nick last night and actually I might have been better off with the Pox than being at Download (then again I did miss KISS who sounded awesome :() what with the crazy shit that went on.)

The infinite project

Curently Listening to : The Smashing Pumpkins - Siva

I had an idea brewing in mind for ages now, and today I actually talked it through with Uka/Nic for the first time. Since we were chatting about his new camera and considering trying to do a double exposure project.

Anyhow my idea was to have a few photographers, probably our fellow flickr friends etc to shoot a photo of themselves holding an A4 frame, then each image would be ’shopped together inside each other, in a series of shots that link together and eventually loop round.

Then I was going to take it the next stage up, and somehow in flash produce a looped flash version of this, so you could scroll through each image, or go backwards, and it would loop over and be never ending. This was inspired from a the infinite oz flash I have seen, amazing visuals, insane detail - amazing. Anyway I was discussing with Nic the logic of how to make images loop around like that, and he was very handy in thinking through a work around with me.

I don’t know how some people do it, it’s like this is how I know I could never be a proper hardcore dev or programmer, their minds just work a certain way, they see things in a certain angle that makes them come up with such solutions I could never ever thought of. I mean I consider myself a reasonable problem solver but some people just take the biscuit. THAT’S why they’re hardcore geeky devs or technical geniuses.

So yeah, after discussion with Nic, I’m so going to try this idea out, but with just images of myself first, it’s still going to be hard though. Hmm…

Oh and in other news…LEMMINGS ON THE DS!! Sqeee!

Yes…ahem..portfolio, I know.

Bob was trying to convince me the other day that I should probably get myself a copy of Getting Things Done, though at the time I had only just found out about my disease of doom, so Bob’s attempts to try and turn my sad time into productive time were met with much hostility from ones self. As you can imagine, it’s like telling someone you should go and learn some server side scripting because after hearing you’re about to lose an arm.

Anyway, now I’ve finally accepted there is fuck all I can do about the situation, and hence done what I could in resolving things that could be resolved - I have decided since I am housebound (to the point I can’t actually even step outside), and I won’t be distracted by people on msger or other social networking devices since everyone has fecked off this weekend - I am going to engage on the oh so eloquently nicknamed ‘Pox project’ - whereby I’m going to try and do one of the zillion things that I can’t seem to get round to doing in the duration I have the pox.

Here is a list of things I have to achieve during the “Pox project” (or PP for short, since it feels like some weird medical experiment calling it that.)

  • The beginning and completion of one short reasonable sized project
  • Stirred up motivation to work on other projects
  • To forget about the alternative immense fun I could be having punching people in a field
  • To get back in touch with my geeky side
  • To warm up old skills again
  • To generally GTD!

Sooo projects I could entail this weekend are..

  • Photography portfolio
  • Blog theme

Now righteously I should go with the portfolio, though I won’t have any standby web dev help for that, so I’ll end up tearing my hair out as I scream “WHY DON’T YOU LOOK THE SAME?!?!?” as I preview it in FF and IE and Opera and then the Mac versions and the linux versions and every other random browser under the sun.  But some would argue that I would be going against the whole ‘no stress, no fear’ thing - and sometimes I should just dive in head first and work out how to swim later.

Oh and I’ve decided to also pass away the time by watching lots and lots and lots of films. Torrents are on the go.

Think happy thoughts.
