Literacy and Numeracy

Mood : Busy
Curently Listening to : AFI - 6 to 8

Alright, alright I was totally bricking it earlier - though in theory I had nothing to be worried about as the level of knowledge/ability required was pretty much sub-GCSE level.

Anyhow the tests were as followed:

Literacy -

You have a short paragraph/letter thingy, you need to circle the mistakes. Pretty easy as it was dead simple things but then I worried a little as I could only find about 12/13 mistakes when there were meant to be 15 :/ I must say it really pushed my observation/spelling skills to the limit. I’m quite a fast reader usually, and so I had to proper slow down and pay attention. I’m just glad I didn’t have to write the corrections too else I would have definitely been screwed!

Numeracy -

I actually worked out I’m still; pretty sharp with the maths/working out stuff thing. The test consisted of this information sheet with lists of figures regarding rooms in some evening school. You used in the information to work out the answers - it was multiple choice, so you had 1 in 4 chance shot at it anyway. And the most complicated it got was dealing with ratios and percentages.

I think the hardest part of it all wasn’t the tests themselves but the time limits, 8mins for the literacy and 18mins for the numeracy. It was all about working fast but accurately, and I realised that the reason you had a calculator wasn’t for the complicated maths, but for the speed element. Seriously I literately circled my last answer in the last few moments of the numeracy test.

So yeah, nothing to be scared about really, and most important of all - I passed. Wooo! (All the people in my group passed heh). So onwards to the next hoop to jump…
