Lifehacking catch up

Hmm…

Well I’ve kinda let my feed pile up for god knows how long, just because I don’t have the time or patience to keep on top of it all. But the past two days saw me clearing out most of my feeds and because I have lacking desire to browse the board these days I decided to attack my Lifehacker feeds.

This article firstly makes me feel grumpy, because it’s telling me to like work politics, I don’t know. It says that the emotionally apathetic people should be able to just get on with lots of people because you have a better understanding etc. and work politics is simply about being liked. It also hints that working hard/well is not as important as being liked ha. Great, so in theory at my current job I am at the bottom of the food chain methinks…

At the other end of the scale though, this article is fantastic, it’s like a one page condensation of “help yourself” thoughts. Read it, even if you’re happy, it explains a lot about what sort of place I’m in right now. I’m just about figuring out what I’m all about, and I’m fumbling out the pieces and parts and putting it together slowly.

The best part is the end:

Despite everything I’ve just said:

Self-examination can be paralysis.

Don’t “remember to breathe” — just breathe. It’s a Tao thing.

It’s the paradox at the center of all this — remember that, “Am I living up to being the person I want to be?”, is not a question the person you want to be would ask.

If I can leave you with just one thought, it’s this:

Stop wasting your time fretting over not being happy.

Just be happy.

Just be Happy, what a lovely thought.

Oh and I’m most intrigued by Spicebird, I’m not going to download and try it out yet until it becomes a bit more developed mind, but I like that concept of condensing my mail and everything into one program properly (instead of say using thunderbird and lighting).

I’m sure there’s loads of other random things I quite like to mention, but alas if I did that I would be here forever.
