Amy’s Birthday drink
It was Emma and Amy’s birthday yesterday, and Amy has invited me along for some quiet drinks at this club in town. The problem that arose however was that I was working from 1.30pm till 8pm that night ugh.

Man it was a busy day, as soon as I stepped through the door and got in I was rushing around helping people and all sorts. It didn’t help the fact that I’d rushed my turkey lunch and because of all this crazy activity I was now developing horrible stomach pains - urgh.
Anyway work was work, and I brought rennies on my break but still felt rubbish for the rest of the day stomachwise until the rennies kicked in. Then once it was past 5.30 all the managers had gone home while the menswear person came down and took charge of the floor. She had to deal with the automatic turning off of lights and the heaters wouldn’t come back on!
She sorted out the lights but the heaters were a no go, so us staff just freezed our tits off, I actually can’t believe how cold it got in that store without the heaters. I decided to random drop by the shoe cupboard because it was warm haha.
So yeah work finishes and I go get changed in the loos with then results me in missing everyone being let out the building, so I have to hang about for another extra five mins or so until everyone else left.
Now running late I had an hour to kill before meeting people, so I had intended to splash out on an italian meal. I strolled in the gloomy evil dark to the place I went to for my birthday that I loved, to be told they were shutting up shop early because it was absolutely dead. Fair enough, I was disappointed but there’s other places to go to. I then walk to a place I’d never been to before but was close by, I slip through the doors and glance across to find that the entire place was packed! The dude working there telling me to come back in half an hour…
In the end I go to one more, the last one, if I couldn’t eat here then no Italian for meh…Turns out it was fine and the staff were awesome. I had some antipasto cold meats thingy, which filled me up a bit along with olives and breadsticks. Followed by meat stuff pasta in this fucking nice creamy sauce. Unfortunately I couldn’t finish it all cause I was so full but twas yum.
After canning off two cups of tea I pay up, but not before offering my services to a nearby table…one of them was trying to take a photo of the rest of the table and I offered to take the photo for them. They were surprised and quite appreciative of my gesture. After taking the photo of them joked how I could work a camera at least haha. There was an old lady who graciously wished me a Merry Christmas and new Year which was nice.
Then I drove back to town and strolled over to the club. I wandered in and Amy spots me before I spot her, she comes rushing up and gives me a hug and I apologise for my lateness and explained my trauma of trying to find somewhere to eat.
She leads me to the table where there’s a handful of people sat there, I realise I don’t know a single one of them! But as Amy does introductions (I forget the names at this point :/) one or two of the guys there insist we’d met before, while I pull a 0_o face at them. Though come to think of it now I do remember one, I’d met him when I saw Amy after she had her crash.
Me and Amy nip to the loo where it’s quiet and I can have a proper chat with her better, I take my threesixyfive shot (classy in the toilets..) before we head back out.
But yeah, Amy runs off to dance and I’m left with people I don’t know… So I get a drink (free water all night people woot) and there’s this akward not really chatting vibe for a while. Until eventually I strike up a conversation with one of the people who said we’d met before (but I don’t remember). And it kinda goes on from there. I mean I relax a bit, and stop feeling so self concious (you know feeling underdressed and uggy from work etc etc) and click into social uni mode.
There’s more to this tale…but the rest of the night involved a lot of random chatting, shots (not for me), Amy bumping into people she knows and various exs haha. Bless. Oh and the other stuff too, but I’m not really sure about all that yet to really talk about it. So despite the initial uh-ohness of the situation it turned out a cool night. Quiet with people leaving as time went on but you know, it was cool. Oh and the music was utter wank, like pop/punk boring overplayed usual tracks, best gem was RATM but even then it was killing in the name of. Put it this way, the music was too dull for my tastes and I never hit the dance floor once heh.
Another social on Saturday for both Emma and Amy, and this time bloody people I know!
