To the barbecue!

After enduring an ever so not quiet evening at trafalgar we were now on our way to Kazzie place to partayy and have a barbecue.

Me, Bob, Stephie and Kev took the tube to the hotel where we met up with Leon and then jumped into my car and set off towards Hemel, but first stopping off at the first supermarket we found. Which happened to be the Tescos that I was trying to lead Kev to the Thursday night ha.

We nipped out and filed into Tescos with glee and people ran off looking for stuff, Bob grabs a trolley and I think he heads off trying to hunt down some MEATT. Meanwhile I tried to get hold of the others to see what we should buy and what they were buying, to avoid missing out on something and getting too much of something else. After a few hiccups and crap reception I end up talking to Stu who just told us to get what we all wanted and that should be fine.

I go seek out the guys and find Bob and Kev by a meat fridge working out what to get. Leon and Stephie had both disappeared somewhere else about the store so I set off myself to hunt down some grub for the occasion. I end up grabbing some random stuff that included sausages, good juice, cloudy lemonade - yum, and not forgetting olives!

Leon returned to the trolley with booze and crisps (ha) and Stephie followed suit, I was a little worried cause they were the only veggies at the event but they didn’t mind not having much to scoff and were content with drinks and crisps. Stephie fetched some pringles, but she couldn’t reach the ones she wanted on the shelf haha, she needed to get someone to lift her up so she could get em bless.

After grabbing some other odds and ends we headed to the check out but not without spotting some cool barbecuing sauces like Wasabi Mustard! Ha crazy…
Wasabi Mustard

All paid up and ready to roll we jumped back into my car and off we went the rest of the way to Kazzie’s. It was a fun drive though I’m not sure having a back seat of both Kev, Leon and then Stephie wedged between them was a good idea ha, but nah abducting Stephie for my car journey was deffo the right move, made it full of banter and fun.

Now I thought we would be beaten by everyone else to Kazzie’s but it turned out I would be proven wrong. It ended up that we arrived it was just us at the house and no sign of anyone else. So do we go and do? Sit and wait? Nope! Instead we go and did what I did the first time I pulled up at Kazzie’s, we go try the door… And well wouldn’t you believe it, it was unlocked and we all just strolled right on in…

Breaking into Kazzie’s house for the second time this weekend, ha I’m doing great so far. We all piled into the kitchen, offloaded the shopping and put the kettle on. We tried to keep a bit quiet because we weren’t sure if Kazzie’s mum was in or not, and well if she had been in we didn’t want her to think we were burglers or something ha. I gave the others a call to let them know we had just walked right into Kazzie’s house heh, and to hurry up! Apparently Kazzie was a little stressed out over her mum :/ for some reason and they were just about to leave thankfully so we didn’t have long to wait.

We realised eventually that it would probably be a good idea not to hang about inside so once the brews were done we filed back outside and went to go sit in my car. Just as we were getting settled down the others appeared and pull up heh. We went over and greeted them and all that then returned back inside where chaos resumed…

Nowback at Kazzie’s I thought it was all going smoothly, well so I hoped, people started getting drinks out and breaking into the snacks until Kazzie pipped up and informed us all that her mother has failed to sort out gas for the big barbecue. This though bad news it was didn’t mean a total disaster, well not in my eyes anyway, none the less Kazzie was pretty stressed out by this, and she was also a big peved at her mum for letting her down and also kicking up a fuss and going to bed when she knew well that Kazzie was having all of us over. Stressed, poor, and with everything seemingly going wrong, Kazzie started to feel down by this point.

We tried to reassure her that it wasn’t all over or ruined, we could still barbecue, we could just use the little barbecue and then go grab some coal. I kept telling her to just come with me, we’ll go get some coal and it’ll be fine. But she was still a bit upset by it all. At this point a few suggestions came up about we could go somewhere else to have the barbecue, take everything with us, Kazzie mentioned about a field near by and I took charge and told everyone to bag up stuff ready to move. Eventually Kazzie was willing to come with me to get coal, and I got Bob to come along too. But first she got Kev to go look at her borked internet, which apparently hadn’t been working recently.

While she was upstairs I had to stick my neck out a little, and I went and got everyone’s attention and explained that Kazzie was really skint and all, and so could everyone just chip in some money towards the coal? Which I felt like a total prick about, because the thing I hated doing above all everything else was asking people for money. But the response I got was marvellous, without hesitation everyone said sure and were handing me money without a problem and before I knew it I found myself with a handful of pound coins 0_o

Eventually we jumped into the car and Kazzie led me to a petrol station where me and Bob dived into the shop and picked up some coal. Me and Bob debated on getting another bag but Bob said one would be plenty but we did settle on picking up a disposable barbecue to help with the cooking. Bob also decided out of his own pocket to pick up one more and some some more utensils and I convinced him we should also get some lighter fluid too just to be extra sure we wouldn’t have a problem.

We returned to the house and decided to sod going to the field and just have it there and just keep the noise down. So out came the barbecuing stuff and soon they were being lit and tended to. Now with the crisis diverted we could chill out a bit and get some cooking and fun on the go. The boys set about mounting the gazebo hehe, and they were somewhat completely puzzled by it.

No man can resist playing star wars when given poles (though in this case instead of fake fighting Kev did end up whacking Bob with a pole after everyones insistence that he was to (fake) hit Bob for the photo) :
Gazebo Construction

In fact I found it highly amusing that slowly more and more guys went to help but they didn’t seem to be progressing haha. Of course I did the best ladylike thing I could and to not help but take lots of photos instead.

How many men and Max does it take to build a gazebo?
Gazebo Construction

But they eventually get the hang of it:

Ha the Gazebo does finally get completed however it took them an insane amount of time compared to when Stu and Bob did it, and even then they hadn’t done it right. They had put on the cover the wrong way round, so I had to lift a finger and help sort it out. Mergh.

We also had a bit of fun with the novelty apron that Bob, me and Kazzie had brought the weekend before, in fact Leon made extremely good use of it and I found him at one point sporting a quite impressive set of cleavage for a man. With Aino grabbing on to it like a moth to a flame, or a limpet clinging onto a rock…

Nice tits Leon:

Ah Leon, Kev’s friend and plus one for his guest listing, probably the best/worse person he could have thought of bringing to the event. Though I had already met Leon and got on with him fine at the Manics gig it was clear that I had yet to see this other side of Leon…the dark(drunk) side! If we thought Kev was bad then Leon was just another planet, from his marriage proposal to Kiernan if she would fart on demand to him flirting with many of the muser girls and getting involved with food fights, he brought to the party the drunken geezer sleaze that every party should have somewhere lurking about. Plus he had a nice pair.

Who has the best cleavage?

So in between the Gazebo action and Leon antics we did actually light some barbecues and got some cooking meat on the go. Barbecue King and Queen (Stu and K) took charge of the coal one while Aino got the disposable one going and cooking away. Kazzie started drinking and cheered up and everything magically fell into place! Woo. I set about drinking cloudy lemonade and scoffing olives while loitering about, some light chatting and banter as the others socialised and all that. I also noticed for the first time ever what Jon’s top was, he was wearing a brown tshirt with “Team Cooper” written across it, and got a bit over excited when it clicked and chatted to him about it. It was an awesome top I want :( especially what with TCTC’s (RIP) recent spilt.

Team Cooper!

I found out that Kiernan had brought some steaks, and though I wasn’t intending to have one (else I would have brought one from Tescos before) my brain/eyes/taste buds lit up at the thought, and I went to haggle with her and Stu about claiming one. K said it was cool and that one shall be mine mmmm steakkkk, though at one point I didn’t realise she had begun cooking it! And because I like my steak stupidly raw I panicked and went argh! And rescued it from further cooking to be consumed later.

Some random photos:

I finally wandered over to talk to Stephie and Gem who had been nattering in the corner for most the time there and spoke to them a bit, we were soon joined by Kev and he started to mention he was thinking of going soon as he was feeling a bit run down. Now this shook things up a bit as I was intending to give those a lift back who were staying at the hotel, if Kev left this would mean that Stephie, Gem and Leon would have to leave, and we had barley even cooked the food yet due to the hiccup and the late start. We sat about debating options and Gem and Stephie were fine with heading off if need be, and I tried to encourage kev to stay longer, even if it involved napping for a bit, especially since he hadn’t even eaten anything.

After some talk I decided to sod it, and that I would make two trips to the hotel that night. I said that I would take Kev home now and everyone else should stay, have some fun and eat stuff, then I’ll take em back whenever they wanted to later. People started doing the whole are you sure? thing and I said yeah it was fine and some offers of if I wanted anyone to come with me, I said I didn’t mind either way which was true, though Stephie decided that she would like to get an early night too since she did have a flight earlier, so she also came along. (Though I like the speculation that she wanted some sexy time with kev ;))

I started to tell people that Kev and stephie were heading off, and Bob decided to take it upon himself to announce that Kev was leaving so everyone should go give him a hug! Which….they did…haha

Believe it or not but kev is in there somewhere:

Eventually I tear him away from the others, tell K to save me a sausage, and we all set off back to the hotel. Though a bit anxious doing the drive the first time in the dark I didn’t have a problem with getting them back, in fact I could have done it fine even without having kev manning the directions beside me as he was doing then. And it so turns out that I do indeed spend the rest of the weekend not really needing the google map print outs, though I kept them nearby most the time to act as a kinda mental reassurance.

I dropped Stephie off right outside her hotel from the car (because well I didn’t even want to risk something happening to her even over short distance) and then went to Kev’s hotel. I hung out there for a bit and had to go pee anyway, so grabbed a drink (not a cup of tea though grr) and chilled out before the drive back. I didn’t realise I’d been there that long and until all of a sudden I found someone calling me, turns out it’s Leon ha! I have no idea who gave him my number but he was just checking (drunkenly) if I was alright and all, I said I was fine and gonna set off in a mo, though Kev kept telling me to tell Leon things that seem to be ripping the piss out of him ha.

I set off soon after and return to Kazzie’s without a problem, though when I got there I found everyone huddled up in the livingroom crowded around the tv with some smash bros action on the go. I managed to find a spot to settle down in and Leon started to fuss me a little and went and sorted me a sausage bap and got my steak. Though I was a bit distraught to find that the sausages had been reduced to a lump of chard…saying it had been a little “overdone” was an understatement and despite my valiant effort I just couldn’t consume the damn thing :( Grrr. According to Stu they had a *slight* accident with them, alas it was the same thing that happen when we had a barbecue in the park at Leeds. Too many sausages on at once = flameage.

Hanging out in the livingroom:

I ate what I could and watched as the smash bros action continued, Bob and Stu had a few one on one battles and for one game Stu ended up winning ha! (well Bob did kill himself a few times to get it down to one life each haha) And Stu jokingly claimed Bob’s camera as his own as part of the Stu Vs Bob smash bro’s bet hehe.

I got Bob to change it to warioware, but I had to go fetch the games from Kazzie’s room where Aino and Max were currently sleeping heh. I thought sod it I’ll go, and I dragged a drunken Lauren along too haha. We had a few multiplayer games of that though I had wanted to get some bungee buddies action on the go, but I had to play darts to unlock it grr.

Eventually people were getting tired and it was really getting late-late and we all had a gig to go to tomorrow! Gem and Leon were ready to head off so I set about getting ready to take them back, while Leon caused some last minute chaos in the livingroom on the matress.

A lovely pile up:

I also had this totally random conversation with a now drunken Lauren on the stairway as I nipped to the loo, she told me how she just drank loads of water really fast and I told her off saying you’re meant to sip it ha.

K offered to come with this time, because it was exceptionally late and I again wasn’t fussed either way but thought it would be fun to have the company this time since I was pretty tired by then. So I set off with Gem, Leon and K and I got them to the hotel easy and I unleashed everyone out the car. Then just as I pointed out which window was Kev’s I saw the curtain ruffle and out popped Kev’s head haha. We had a short conv with Kev and I said I thought he would be asleep by now, all while K and Leon were play fighting around this giant puddle ha.

Eventually me and K bid farewell to everyone and set back off to Kazzie’s, we had a nice little girly chat along the way that continued once we had arrived back at the house, though by the time we crept inside it was all hush and everyone was in the livingroom getting some sleep. It was insane, I swear like a blanket of people covering Kazzie’s livingroom, it was a good thing I had asked K if I could crash with her in the spare room she was staying in upstairs cause hell I didn’t know where I would had slept. We crept about gathering things and getting ready to head up and we stirred Stu and Bob in the process. We had a bit of a giggle as Kiernan started to terrorise Stu with riding him and such teehee.

Once upstairs I got ready etc then K came sniggering upstairs and told me about how she was just riding Stu and then called him Seabiscuit hehe. We chatted for a bit some more then heard someone creep upstairs to the loo, we wondered who it was and peeked out the door until they emerged and saw it was only Bob. We spoke to him briefly then we tried to settle down ourselves. Daylight slowly creeping through the curtains and the clock ticking gone 4am I knew I was going to suffer tomorrow ha, and I snuggled into my sleeping bag trying hard to fall asleep, ah well at least I didn’t have to worry about Douglas this time.

Ever so tired, and still the actual weekend of gigs to go, I wondered how on earth was I going to survive this….
