To Lunndunn!

“Have you started the ‘ungoldy’ task yet?”

I say to Bob the other evening, and even though I can’t see him in person I just know right at that very moment, across the phone line on the other end, his body recoils in horror at the question. But it’s not just him that’s shuddering, I’m shuddering too and part of my brain runs away and goes hide behind a big rock.

“Noo!”

Haha, I laugh and I know, that we both know, that we’re both cringing at one another at the thought.

Believe it or not the ‘ungodly’ task I talk about of is that of blogging, blogging the entire past weekend that has now been and gone, and for me personally also means catching up on about three weekends worth of blog entries.

It’s at this point in the conversation that I jokingly tell Bob off producing too much excitement and fun on the Friday, which has now meant we had more to write - ha. The idea I being that before the weekend had even passed, I said to Bob jokingly that I’ll avoid fun just so I didn’t have to blog about it haha.

But here I am…with a thousand words to spill and a million memories to keep. Maybe you’ll make it to the end when you begin reading, maybe not, but I’ll keep on writting anyway. Just so I won’t forget the amazing weekend I just had…

My weekend begins well before the weekend as usual. In fact it begins on a Thursday night, and I’m burning it down the A1 with nothing to keep me company but my mp3 player and my pile of google maps. I’m en-route to Kazzie’s house, and it’s the first time I’d driven it, before I had always happily taken the train and trekked about on the public transport but this weekend oh no, the car was coming with so I could make it back home on Sunday in time for work on Monday.

The drive down was pretty smooth going, I didn’t actually get lost, though I did take wrong turnings which I corrected immediately but somehow I magically found myself outside Kazzie’s house. I park up and get out and first thing I do is ring the house phone, someone answers and I’m not sure if it’s her Mum or Kazzie so I just kept saying ‘Hello?’ while they kept saying ‘Hello?’ back ha. I then got cheeky and thought - I bet their front door is unlocked - so I strolled over, tried it and then wandering right in. Much to Kazzie’s amusement as she realised I’d kinda broken into her house haha.

It’s at this point that I kinda meet Kiernan (aka K) for the first time ever. When I say meet there wasn’t really a big introduction or anything like that, it was more of ‘Hi’ and then just a big general chatting session as if we’d always been mates and always nipped round each others houses for tea. So me, K, Kazzie and Kazzie’s mum spoke for a bit on their kitchen then I hauled stuff in and nipped on webcam for a bit, then we set about seeking food.

I Meet Kiernan and Kazzie:

The original plan was to order some usual kebab grub, which bothered me slightly as K had flown all the way over here and could have done with a proper nutritious meal though I suppose one meal out of many isn’t so bad. Turned out the place we wanted to order from was closed damn, I suggested going out and getting something but Kazzie was being very stubborn about the idea - though she was absolutely knackered from all the travelling she’d done that day.

For your information she had flown over to Dublin to meet up with K and then flew back, the idea was to go hang in Dublin for a bit but the flight got delayed so they didn’t really get to do much. Though the thing that got me was that Kazzie appeared to be way way way more tired than K, who had only just travelled all the way from America by taking two flights, and a train journey. Whether this suggests that K was hardcore or immune to jet lag then I’m not sure…

Anyhow, Kazzie is being in a total can’t be arsed I’m tired mood about going to find food, while me who is nocturnal despite also being a 9-5 worker, was quite happy and willing to do all the driving. Eventually I convince Kazzie and we set off in my car with her directing towards civilisation and FOOD!

Now it was up to K to decide what she fancied, and she could have had anything - curry, chinese, kebab, burger etc etc. But after hearing she’d already eaten Mc Donalds in Dublin I banned her right there and then from any places/food she could get the US from that point onwards - hehe. After some dottering about and K being quite uncertain what to go for we somehow ended up near a place with a chinese and a kebab place. Kazzie and K go get some grub from the kebab place and after some hesitation I decide to go grab some chinese, but alas it was not meant to be as when I returned to it I found it had shut since we last went past it - grr. I did end up with a chicken burger though that Kazzie had ordered but then changed her mind about but it was already being cooked.

I decided to ring Bob and arranged to go have sushi time at Yo Sushi tomorrow between 1-2pm, the idea being we meet round that time and then start eating at 2, regardless of who’s there or not. Kazzie speaks to Bob on the phone for a bit and somehow Bob - god know’s how - convinced Kazzie that it was a great idea too and she was going to go as well(bringing K with her too). This seemed a bit weird for me because the last time we had taken Kazzie to Yo Sushi she gave a mixed response…

Finally with bags of food in hand we head back to Kazzie’s and start tucking in while watching my sweet sixteen or something, where this obviously spoilt bossy kid was having the “perfect” birthday party and all. It made me cringe deep inside while K explained that not all Americans are like that, that it was only a mere slight percentage that were that extremely annoying. So we sat there and took the piss for a bit out of it before happily enjoying some South park. I also make a quick call to Stu and I invite him to Sushi time for tomorrow as well, I told him of the “We eat at 2″ rule, so if you’re not there by 2 then tough we’re all eating ;)

Chicken burger goodness:

Meanwhile I then end up on the phone to Kev who was already in London and had gone for a bit of a wander for a supermarket 0_o so I found myself sat at Kazzie’s pc surfing for supermarkets in that area and then beginning to guide him towards a Tescos…which turned out to be shut ha. We also sorted some things out for yesterday, like me going over to park there in the morning and all that. This was also the first time I find out about Leon…

Leon was Kev’s mate who I’d already happened to have met when I went to see the Manics in Leeds. And he was coming down on Friday too though I totally didn’t know about it until right then. This also meant that the car arrangements were now thrown a bit off and there was the whole issue of him coming to Kazzie’s barbecue…

Kazzie hears me talking about Leon and she immediately isn’t keen on the idea, though this is more due to the fact that she’s exhausted and I tell kev that it doesn’t look like Leon will be able to come…but we figured it’ll work out in the end.

Soonish after K and Kazzie decide to head off to bed, though I still found Kazzie on msger to Stu, and was ignoring mine and K’s insistence that she should just go crash now. I went to get ready and found K in the bathroom (kinkeh) getting ready too and we ended up somehow chatting for quite a bit about random crap in the bathroom ha. Eventually we both go off to settle, and I unrolled my sleeping bag onto the sofa, slipped inside and forgot about the light, got back up to kill it, then fumbled my way through the gloom back to the sleeping bag.

I took a moment to think, nice and quiet alone in the livingroom I thought about the whole weekend ahead, sushi and gigs and all, and that air of unexpentancy that comes with adventure. I try to forget about Douglas, rolled over, and closed my eyes to sleep…
